About Me (bio) 個人簡曆:
I was born in Taiwan in 1942 and immigrated to U.S.A. in 1970 to further my art history study at the University of Kansas, Lawrence, Kansas. Between 1974 and 1989, I taught in many different colleges and universities, including Kansas City Art Institute, Chinese University of Hong Kong, and Kent State University. Since 1989 I have been a full-time professor at San Jose State University. The courses I have taught include Introduction to Western Art, Art of Asia, Art of China, Art of Japan, Art of India and Southeast Asia, and East Meets West in Art. Over 30 years, I have published sixteen books and over 160 articles, and won many awards from the government and universities in Taiwan and the United States.

In addition to my scholastic achievement, I am also an artist. My painting covers traditional and modern styles. The traditional evidences my solid training in drawing, calligraphy, and humanity studies in history, philosophy, poetry, etc. The modern style expresses my creativity, which brings in modern aesthetics, themes, and ideas. My works have been been exhibited in Taiwan, Korea, Hong Kong, Japan, China, and many places in the United States. They have been recognized internationally and have won various awards in exhibitions and contests. Many paintings have been entered into private and public collections, including Taiwan National Historical Museum, Taichung Normal University, Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Library, Yun-lin University of Technology and Science. On the 5th floor of the Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Library, there is a special area exhibiting my new works.

In addition to teaching and creating, I have also participated in many art organizations. In the past 20 years I have organized many exhibitions for San Jose State University, Martin Luther King, Jr. Library, Silicon Valley Asian Art Center, etc. In 2003, I founded Chinese American Art Development Foundation and Chinese American Art Association, being a platform for the Chinese American artists to get integrated with the American culture and society.

In the spring of 2008 there will be three large exhibitions: 1. Chinese Cultural University, Hong Kong, Professors and Alumni Exhibition (San Francisco State University. S. F. Downtown Campus). 2. Buddhist Document and Modern Buddhist Art Exhibition (Martin Luther King, Jr. Library, S.J. 3. Chinese American Art Exhibition (Silicon Valley Asian Art Center, San Jose).
